IT will always play an important role in BI. In fact, it is my firm belief that a solution that is not supported by IT is doomed to fail - at least insofar as the value they will ultimately deliver. However, it is absolutely true that IT's involvement should drastically reduce within the first few weeks of implementation. If it it doesn't, it won't reduce after 24 months either.
