Step 5 - Using the Manual Advanced Mode for Creating your Pivot Table
Advanced mode lets you control the Pivot Table with more granularity. In this mode, you can define which column represents data values as well as define "Hierarchies".
Defining a "hierarchy" is the ability to define relationships between columns. For example: city and state. By defining hierarchies, you can perform more advanced analytics with deeper granularity.
Start by selecting "Manually" this placing you intoadvanced manual mode:

Defining Data Value Columns:
As a default, the system will take any number column and define it as a data object. Uncheck columns that have numbers such as Social Security Number.

Creating Hierarchies and Building the Pivot Layout:
On the next screen you can define the layout of your Pivot Table as well as create Hierarchies.
Use
button to create hierarchies.
Use
button to add dimensions into the row or column.
Hierarchy
- Give your category a name such as "Geography" (in a case, for example,where you want to associate a country column with a city column).
- Add the columns by using the arrow button.
