Panorama NovaView Spotlight is the first Proactive BI release enabling information workers to get key metrics and instant insights without using complex BI tools and directly where they spend most of their day. With NovaView Spotlight more people can use BI data and less time is spent on navigating BI reports.

NovaView Spotlight is a task pane that appears on the side or top of Office applications and acts as a personal dashboard. Spotlight works directly from Outlook, Excel, and Word in Office 2003, and from all Office 2007 applications. A very powerful search feature enables users to find information contained in any report on their NovaView server and simply drag and drop it into the NovaView Spotlight, creating a “Viewpoint” that is personalized with the user’s most important metrics.

NovaView Spotlight is automatically updated from the data warehouse, allowing a user to see “live” data. It’s a seamless link to all the information in NovaView, without the user worrying about how the underlying BI technology works. 

A user can easily pull together information from different business sectors and from multiple reports (crosstabs, charts, “Smart Reports”). Using a cell-level, context-sensitive menu, NovaView Spotlight lets a user:

• Choose relevant metrics and see them in a Microsoft Office application
• Use a powerful search feature to find relevant metrics 
• Easily add or delete elements through a drag-and-drop utility
• Incorporate individual data cells, ranges of cells, and KPI indicators
• Tailor the look of each ViewPoint to personal preferences
• Easily open for further analysis the NovaView report or view on which the Spotlight metric is based
• See “live” data, with metrics refreshed by the newest data on the server
• Share a ViewPoint with colleagues through a publish feature
• Synchronize NovaView Spotlight data to allow offline analysis in an Office application
