Panorama NovaView for MS PowerPivot
Quick, self-service Business Intelligence through advanced analysis
PowerPivot is part of the new release of SQL Server Analysis Services, and it uses an in-memory, column-based storage mode to enable users to build models in self service mode, “on the fly”, without having to pre-aggregate or build cubes prior to querying.
With PowerPivot, users can integrate data from multiple sources including corporate databases, Excel spreadsheets and external sources, using familiar tools but gaining greater power and analysis capacity. And many organizations have shown interest in extending this new in-memory platform with a complete business intelligence suite and making it ready for enterprise wide deployments.

Modeling in the Web Browser
Currently integrated as part of the latest version of NovaView, the Panorama Unified Data Connector (UDC) enables Information Workers to connect to any type of data source via the browser. Once connected, users can create the necessary model for analysis automatically.
In the future, Panorama users will be able to use PowerPivot as the engine behind the UDC, accelerating time to analysis by enabling connections to several data sources and automating the creation of in-memory models.
Advanced Analytics on PowerPivot Models
NovaView for PowerPivot connects natively to the in-memory models, enabling users to perform SQL Server Analysis Services level of data analysisincluding smart exceptions, instant calculations, data formatting and more. Users can create advanced calculations and new aggregations instantly from the easy-to-use web interface leveraging MDX and the new and powerful DAX language. In addition, users can create pixel perfect reports, executive dashboards and various data visualizations - all sourcing natively from PowerPivot.
Data Security System
PowerPivot models deployed in SharePoint are protected by file system security that specifies model access. However, classic Analysis Services data security is not applied on the PowerPivot data. As a result, all users see exactly the same data within a specific model. NovaView offers a unified security definition and management system for all users. With the addition of this missing data security layer, PowerPivot gets the security required for enterprise BI.
Working with Microsoft Office 2010
Panorama integrates with Microsoft Office, and offers new, powerful capabilities that take advantage of Office 2010. With one click, users can drill from Excel to Panorama NovaView for deeper and web-based analysis. They can also bring key figures and KPIs live to desktop office tools using NovaView Spotlight. Views and reports can be deployed to a SharePoint 2010 portal, exposing live and interactive data to the end user via the new Flash Analytics Webpart. All of these capabilities create a seamless back and forth flow between Microsoft BI tools and NovaView. Users can keep using Excel as a key part of the BI process and SharePoint as a corporate information center, without experiencing any limitations on advanced analysis, web-based reporting, dashboarding and data visualizations.
