Member Selection allows you to focus on specific data by displaying only selected members on the grid and the chart, and hiding the others. Member Selection can be applied only to members from the same level.
Selecting Highlighted Members
You can use the Select Highlighted Members option from a member menu to select members you have highlighted.
To select a single member:
Click in the member heading, and from the member menu select Select highlighted members.
The grid and chart now display only the selected member. A filter icon appears in the heading of the member’s dimension indicating that a member selection has been performed in that dimension.

Creating Sets
You can define a member selection for a dimension as a set. Sets are saved in a repository and become available for display from other views containing the same dimension. The administrator can save sets in the Public folder; users can save sets in their private folders.
Sets can also be defined using MDX, via the Custom Set property in a view’s Data Properties.
To create a set:
1.Click on the dimension heading and select Select members from the dimension menu.
2.In the Select Members in <Dimension> dialog box, click on a member in the All Members panel and click the arrow to move it to the Selected panel, or just double-click a member.
Select Allow drill down on selected members if you want to allow drilling down to lower levels of hierarchy for the selected members.
3.Click the Save Set button to save the selection as a set.
4.In the Save as Set dialog box, click on the folder where you want to save the set.
To save it as a private set, click the Private sets button. If your private sets are organized in folders, click the folder where you want to save the current set.
To save it to another user’s folder (if you have permission), click the User’s sets button.
Type a Name for this set.
Click OK to save the set in the folder you have selected.
5.To display the sets defined for the current set, click the Sets button.
6.You can include a defined set in a new set you are creating. When you select a set from the list and move it to the Selected panel, you can click on it and then on the Expand Set button in order to see the members it includes.
To remove a member from the set, clear the member’s check box. Use the Select All and Unselect
buttons as needed. Click OK. Then save the new set.
